Different Parts of an Arch

Intrados: 

The inner curve of the arch is called intrados

Extrados: 

The exterior curve of an arch is called extrados. It is also sometimes called back.

Soffit: 

Soffit is the term used to describe the inner surface of the arch.

Crown

The summit or highest point on the extrados is called crown

Abutment

The end supports of an arch are called abutments.

Piers

If abutment is the end support of an arch, piers are the intermediate supports of an arch.

Span

The horizontal clear distance between the supports is called span.

Center

The curve of an arch will have a geometric center, and that geometric center is called the center of an arch.

Springing points

The imaginary points from which the curve of an arch begins/springs

Springing line

If we join the springing points, we get springing line.

Arcade

A row of arches that supports a wall above and is itself supported by piers is called an arcade.
